透過獨特的地理位置與環境養分，台灣早已融合、撞擊出一種獨有拼貼式的台灣原創風格。以大眾傳播為媒介，經由電視、出版品的傳播與擴張，台灣流行文化(或稱大眾文化/通俗文化）除了原汁原味呈現出台灣價值與樣貌外，其內涵同時也深深影響著全球華人市場。然而，在觀察這些流行文化背後所透露的，不只流行文化精神，更是台灣藝術家因環境的內化、所創造出的設計美學。

2009新加坡設計節展覽期間，策展人陳秉良與台灣設計師協會將以「POST: taiwan design in pop culture」做為主題。帶領著二十多位舉凡流行音樂、數位娛樂、產品包裝、視覺設計、時尚潮流等多面向的頂尖設計師及其作品參展。讓如此具有台灣味的設計美學文化躍上國際舞台，並藉此發掘台灣流行設計文化更多、更廣闊的可能性。

Influenced by its unique geographical location and historical background, Taiwan designers have developed an original mix-and-match trend through the unstoppable process of fusion and collision. Via the power of mass media, Taiwan’s Pop Culture Design showcases the values and diverse looks of Taiwan, and further influences the global Mandarin-speaking market. As such, it is not just a ‘pop trend’ but the true spirit of ‘Pop Culture Design’ that has originated from the island’s particular lifestyle, developing various unique design aesthetics.

POST: Taiwan Design in Pop Culture is curated by Eric Chen, showcasing more than 20 leading Taiwanese graphic, digital, environment, animation and illustration designers. Here, the Taiwan design aesthetics continue to be exhibited on a global scale.

Taiwan aesthetic educators are calling for open education, providing diverse learning environments and inspiring student to create unlimited possibilities. 自1995年起以炭筆為創作媒材，從事巨幅自畫像素描系列創作，作品於台北當代藝術館、國立歷史博物館、高雄市立美術館、北京林大畫廊等地展出。其驚人二手玩具裝置作品Salvation Army系列，曾於2009韓國『光州設計雙年展』、法國『Maison des Arts de Créteil藝術節』、2006年韓國釜山『韓國釜山雙年展—海洋藝術季』、2006年中國杭州『中國國際動漫節』、上海當代藝術館『Fiction@Love虛擬的愛』等國際知名藝術節展出。亦擔任多項裝置藝術、設計與雕塑創作策展人與創作者如：2009『台北奔牛節Taipei Cow Parade』、『2008年Converse百年起藝展』、『2006年第四屆台灣國際動畫影展』、『閱讀的享宴—2004台北國際書展主題館』、 2001板橋火車站公共藝術『畢業班2010』等。

出版著作包括《喂！幹麻不做你自己》、《拜託！不要每個人都一樣》（方智出版）。

Kristy Cha Ray Chu plays many roles – college professor, artist, curator, writer, cartoonist and second-hand toy collector. Chu began creating a series of self-portraits using charcoal in 1995, which have been shown and collected at many local and overseas museums and art festivals such as “100 Tales in Animamix” Linda Gallery, Beijing, China(2008), “Fiction @ Love: Ultra New Vision In Contemporary Art” at MOCA Taipei, Taiwan(2004), etc. And her fabulous collection of secondhand dolls, “Salvation Army Series,” are also exhibited in many famous international exhibitions such like “Man&God Russian Dolls 2009: Gwangju Design Biennale (GDB) Exhibition” in Metropolitan City of Gwangju, Korean (2009), “On Temporary Asian Artworks Exhibition,” Bejing, China (2007), “Exit Festival” in Créteil, Maison des Arts, “Via Festival” in Maubeuge, France (2007), “Sea Art Festival” of Busan Biennale, Korea (2006), “Fiction@Love” at MOCA Shanghai (2005), etc. Other creations of sculpture and installation art include “Taipei Cow Parade” (2009), “Love Me/2008- Toy Design & Exhibition”(2008), “Public Art Installation: Graduation 2010”(2001, which also won “Public Art Award: The Best Public Participation” in 2007)

Shih Chien University’s Design College was one of the first design colleges in Taiwan to establish a postgraduate institute dedicated to fashion and communications design.

Against the backdrop of a national expansion in cultural and creative industries, Shih Chien University’s Design College hopes to provide a multi-disciplinary learning environment.

Through theoretical and empirical training, as well as creative and experimental practices, Design College aims to widen the students’ horizons and advance their personal development in the true understanding of culture and humanitarianism.

台灣的夜生活與其他國家有著明顯的差異，特別是像夜店、汽車旅館或KTV這樣的娛樂空間，它們跟時尚文化幾乎已經畫上等號。華麗炫目的空間設計、獨特的音樂節奏，加上意想不到的燈光驚喜，不但與國際潮流零時差，同時也呈現出在地文化混血、更勝一籌的態勢。在頂尖設計師的巧妙戲法中，娛樂空間不再汙名化，反而成為台灣大眾生活中最具時尚代表的生活場所。

There are notable differences between nightlife in Taiwan and other countries, especially in entertainment space as night clubs, motels or KTVs. The glamour interior design, unique music rhythm and unexpected dramatic lighting even represent fashion culture in Taiwan which is international as well as intertwined with local hybrid culture. As these entertainment spaces become the designers’ artistic works, they turn to be the most fashionable living locales for the public.

英籍設計師林馬克先生為MLD設計公司創辦人兼主設計師。

林馬克先生以大膽而富有創造力的設計風格聞名，先後在亞洲各地締造出成功且大受歡迎的商業空間案例，例如：小西華飯店—台北；HOTEL G—北京：於台北著名的娛樂空間個案則有：PLUSH、MINT，及鴉片館，餐廳設計更有滬江宴、Diamond Tony’s Grill（台北101）等成功的經驗。

除了商業空間類型的案例外，MLD的作品實績更包含了許多造價高昂的私人住宅以及依業主量身打造的特色住宅。此外，亦有許多與台灣當地建設公司、代銷公司合作的住宅銷售案例。

林馬克先生魚1981年於倫敦開始了他的設計事業，先後於Powell-Tuck Connor 及Orefelt設計公司任職，隨後於台灣成立—林馬克設計工作室，作品涵蓋各類型；設計遍及台灣各地，近年更將觸角延伸至亞洲各地。

British architect/designer Mark Lintott is the founder and principal designer for Mark Lintott Design (MLD)

Mr. Mark Lintott is renowned for the daring and imaginative interior design of many successful entertainment and commercial venues in Asia, such as t he Sherwood Hotel in Taipei, Hotel G in Beijing, c lubs like Plush, Mint, Opium Den in Taipei as well as restaurants such as Hu Jiang Yen in Taipei, Diamond Tony’s Grill in Taipei 101 and many more. In tandem with this work is a large portfolio of exclusive and unique residences for both private clients and established property development and real estate firms in Taiwan.

He began his career in 1981 in London for the practice of Powell-Tuck Connor and Orefelt. Ten years later, he established Mark Lintott Design in Taiwan, working for a wide range of clients in Taiwan and throughout Asia.

His highly acclaimed international projects have been extensively published in books and journals including the New York Times, VOGUE, ELLE, Interiors, Mondo, Abitare, and Wallpaper.

Mr. Lintott has also held visiting lecturer positions at universities in Taiwan and a frequent guest speaker in Taiwan and around Asia.

MLD is located in downtown Taipei with a core group of talented designers and supporting staff experienced in all aspects of design from conception to production and administration.

薇閣精品旅館位於台北市郊兼備娛樂、旅館及美食餐廳性質的新興發展區。在台灣，這類源自於日本的休憩型旅館相當熱門，對於此類兼備娛樂性的旅館而言，房況的維持、客房服務及保全等特殊需求顯得格外重要。

各個房間提供不同用途及風格等需求，兼具如SPA水療、船屋及玻璃屋等房型或者閃耀奪目的浪漫風格。

林馬克設計工作室剔除汽車旅館一貫給予人的刻版印象，領導進入主流市場，並藉此為業者開拓更為寬廣的客源。

透過連結各樓層的汽車斜坡道為旅館主要入口，位於一樓大廳也因此更能保有顧客隱私，並經由電梯通往各房間。薇閣精品旅館總房數約150間，每房坪數大小為十坪至一百二十坪不等。

WEGO Hotel is located in one of the newly develped areas of suburbs of Taipei. The area is zoned for entertainment, hotel and restaurant usages.

The boutique hotel is a drive-in short-stay motel which is very popular in Taiwan with its origins from Japan. This type of motels is considered as “entertainment” hotels and requires a highly specific approach to maintenance, housekeeping and security.

Each room caters for different purposed and tastes from a “spa” type to a “boat house” to a “glasshouse”. Glamour and bling-bling are important factors as well as “romantic” element.

MLD regarded this as an opportunity to relinquish old stereotype of such motels and bring in wider base of customers.

The main entrance is via a car ramp which accesses to all floors. Other guests enter via the main lobby on the first floor which is discrete and private as well. They access the rooms via a room sized elevator from the first floor.

The boutique hotel contains approx 150 rooms ranging from 30m2 to 400m2.

角色公仔 engaging with figures - 張嘉倫 Mark Chang

透過潮流色彩的渲染，公仔的流行重新定義了玩具的價值，並扭轉了消費者對公仔產品的認知態度。台灣設計師藉由公仔做為創意傳播的新媒介，不但把藝術家不同領域的創意和才華同時展現給消費者；彙同台灣的文化延伸，也建構出與眾不同的傳播網絡。一隻隻經由角色設定過的公仔，是設計師表現創意的方式，同時也是一種對雕刻藝術的徹底顛覆。

Influenced by street fashion, the popularity of designer toys not only re-defends the value of toys, but also converts consumers’ perspective toward designer toys. Taiwan designers regard designer toy as a creative mass medium to present artists’ creativity and talents from different disciplinary as well as to build up a particular communication network. Each designer toy is an approach for designers to show their creativity, as well as a way for viewers to subvert traditional concept toward sculpture art.

Phalanx Creative「基礎創意」，由Mark Chang(張嘉倫)於2004年成立的設計工作室，一個企圖以潮流文化為概念基礎的設計團隊，以角色藝術出發，並涉足多元的商業設計作品及藝術玩具等創作。

Mark畢業於國立交通大學建築研究所後，轉往多媒體設計領域發展，於2002年開始發展概念性角色產品的獨立創作，包含了平面設計，立體造型，包裝設計，網路等等。

持續地觀注原創理念與城市文化的議題，Phalanx Creative 結合全球各地設計師與藝術家的才華，策劃或參與各式展覽活動，並藉此提出具實驗性及前瞻性的創意提案，給予不同領域客戶，並創造具獨特性的異業結合的案例。

2008 年開始 Phalanx Creative 重新以 Phalanx Studio 的名義發表原創角色，平面插畫等作品，並參與潮流藝術設計、產品設計與行銷等專案。

Phalanx Creative, officially established in 2004, is a design team focusing on POP culture founded and driven by Mark Chang. Their works start from figure art to various business design works and designer toys.

Graduated from Institute of Architecture, National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan, Mark Chang devoted himself to multimedia design. In 2002, he started to develop his indie creation label on concept figure, as well as graphic design, 3d modeling, package design and website design.

Consistently caring for the issue of original concepts and city culture, Phalanx Creative combines the talent of global designer and artists and curates and attends diverse exhibitions. Moreover, Phalanx Creative creates various crossover projects to provide experimental and prospective proposals. In 2008, Phalanx Creative republished original figure, illustration, street style fashion design, product design and marketing under the name of Phalanx Studio.

Mr Power. 一個嶄新的設計師平臺玩具，捨棄了以往常見中性的動物造型，採用充滿力量的線條作為造型表現的基礎，Phalanx 希望把人類追求美感與卓越的期望化身在這個玩具平臺之上，借著設計與創意延展出每個人心目中的英雄，同時把這些有趣的想法，利用www.mymrpower.com的網路平臺分享給彼此。

Mr. Power 的另一個特點是直接採用8英吋的高度推出，而不採用盒抽的方式，希望將平臺玩具的樂趣推回創作與收藏的原點，以DIY的運用為前提而設定的最佳尺寸。

Mr. Power系列的包裝與視覺設計，採用了80年代英雄玩具全盛時期的諸多設定改良而來，吊卡的包裝設計更讓玩家有機會從頭至尾創造一個屬於自己的figure玩具，引領玩家回到過去那對玩具充滿想像與盼望的年代。

Mr. Power is a brand-new platform for designer toys. Being different from usual animal modeling, Mr. Power uses powerful contour as design foundation to represent an image of hero that everybody anticipates and imagines. Moreover, Phalanx design studio is looking forward to sharing these brilliant ideas and creative inspirations on the site: www.mymrpower.com and the online shop.
Another feature of Mr. Power is that designers trace back tp the starting point of the pleasure of creation and collection by launching 8 inch height designer toys instead of the ordinary capsule ones.
The package and visual design of Mr. Power series add retrospective elements which reform from the heyday of super hero toys in the 1980’s. The collectors are able to create a unique figure toys which takes them back to childhood.

台灣時尚產業的結構特殊，讓時裝設計師必須擁有更多的獨立精神與國際環境做衝撞。但即便如此，他們仍憑藉著自身的天分與美感、在國際伸展台上展現不凡的有型身影。而他們取材各種時尚元素與流行觀察、轉化而成的時裝與精品，也成為品味生活中更彌足珍貴的時尚觀點。

From sketch processing to develop original animation, Taiwan animation has taken the model of short film to approach the market. Pongo Kuo’s profound experience in the animation industry has beenover 20 years. Having been in the position of Creative Director of many leading animation houses in Taiwan, including Anitime, Dago Entertainment and Cuckoo Nest, Kuo’s now held his position in Gamania Creative Center. He has participated in many famous animation production series such as ‘Magic Grandma,’ ‘Little Mermaid,’ ‘Peter Pan,’ ‘Hercules,’ ‘Garfield’ and ‘Winnie the Pooh’ to name just a few.

Cola is a well-known illustrator in Taiwan. Upon having published many books, he has also taken part to a number of events such as the “Taipei Cow parade” and the “SuperGeneration@ Taiwan” exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Taipei. With multi titles, he is also a poet, artist, promoter of the “Poetry periodical” and a member of the musical group “Material girl”.

As a graphic designer and VJ. Issa’s highly active in the scenes of music, design, motion graphic and fashion. He worked with Taiwanese rock band MAY DAY for international tour concert visual design during 2003-2005, founded street fashion brand - Pizza Cut Five in 2005, and successfully rebranded Taiwanese local restaurant Formosa Chang in 2008. Pizza Cut Five is one of the most popular trendy brands nowadays in Taiwan.

Motion graphics landscape is shaped by TV broadcasting, music and movie industries. It all started with JL's passionate work since the early 90's. While working in Broadcasting industry of Taiwan and Singapore, he’s created unique visual language for Azio TV, HBO, Cinemax, Disney Channel, Channel 8 Singapore and Filmy India among others. In 2007 JL established JL Design and started serving the industry as a free flow creative medium. 東風衛視 2001 年在台灣開播，目標是成為亞洲電視頻道的領導品牌，並自行製作所有的節目。Wind 以頻道名稱「風」字與藴涵的東方文化背景作為主要設計概念，將東風的品牌精神比喻成一陣暖風，持續將各種多元的聲音與元素吹送到亞洲各個城市。
在「東風」的品牌設定成功與東方色彩連結之後，隔年我們嘗試用不同的概念來表現，創造新鮮的視覺震撼並持續加深東風的品牌印象。我希望使用「水」來呈現多元文化和娛樂形式的交流與融合，讓品牌形象和頻道精神達到表裡合一。

Azio TV was launched in 2001 to be the leading TV channel in Asia. It also produces programs in house in order to build a consistent brand identity.

The main design concept of Ident Wind comes from the brand name and the Asian cultural background. In this Ident, Azio brand image is turned to a warm breeze, blowing various voices and elements to every cities around Asia constantly.

After its successfully launch in 2001, the next year JL Design tried to give Azio TV a new impression while continuing addressing its Asian background. The Water element is used to present a fusion of multiple culture and entertainment forms; meanwhile this approach also achieving the integrity of brand image and channel vision.

From posters, signboards, leaflets, covers to product packages, one could observe the consumption culture and aesthetics style in daily life. Sometimes they are multicolored, but sometimes they just keep black and white. The visualization expresses great passion and variation of POP culture in Taiwan.

Chang’s debut research project of the “PRINDUCT” concept chain that based on Graphic (Print) design + Product design has been published in the year of 2005. His design has gained many awards withgreat honor from international design associations such as London International Awards, Type Directors Club NY, Advertising Club OF NEW YORK, Hong Kong Designers Association, 100% Tokyo Designer’s Week Exhibition etc. Design products from the research have received magazine reports; TV interview also has been sold in United Kingdom, Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan.

Mr. Jack Chang was consigned to create media, graphic, advertising and interactive design for many important projects for public and private sectors in Taiwan. He also established his own brand name of fashion accessories which are carried by high-end department stores and boutique stores. Mr. Chang intends to continue working in the art design field involving graphic, multimedia, and product designs in New York City.

每次成立一個研究專案 (Research Project)，從平面設計師的角度，檢討注視一個社會文化。研究領域不限於生活裡的美學產物，也包括生活裡各種形態存在的文化，像是語言、文字、生活習慣等；結案產出的形式也不限，可以是書、服裝、產品，或甚至電子媒體。最主要的讓結案產出能夠表達平面設計師對人類生活參與的重要性。

From a point of view as a graphic designer, the research projects in social culture are not only living aesthetics, but also various cultural elements such as languages, letters and customs. In addition, the result could be a book, a costume, a product, and even an electronic media. Therefore, the mission for a graphic designer is to relate graphic design with life.

Graphic Designers 與人民的接觸其實並不少於其他設計領域，像是產品、Fashion或是建築。而其他這些領域的產物最終也都會經由Graphic Design 這條路來面對催眠大眾，但歷史留下來的成為重要記憶的最終總是一棟建築、一把沙發或一個包包，總不會是一張包裝紙或一段排得很好的字體。Graphic Design 總還是間接的接觸人民，我們Graphic Designer應該更直接的介入民生，產生更大的影響力。平面數計師就是文化觀察者，我們不是介入其他領域，而是以本身獨特的特質產生創造。

As a graphic designer, Chang’s job is to make everything more artistic but not more functional. Sometimes consumers even buy a product for its beautiful advertising package. 台灣的媒體開放，使得電視頻道總是「百家」爭鳴，讓台灣的媒體注定成為一個低成本、高效益的娛樂工廠。從談話性節目、美少女獵奇到明星選秀，沒有人能確定這些節目的流行，究竟是觀眾影響節目內容；又或者是娛樂節目沸騰了觀眾情緒。但肯定的是，台灣節目製作人總有辦法在鏡頭背後，一次又一次完成對大眾心態的洞悉。

There is a much higher degree of freedom given to TV producers, therefore, TV industry continues to boom in Taiwan and faces challenges. On the other hand, the mass media is fate to be a low-cost, high- efficiency entertainment factory. From the phenomenon brought by talk shows, talent shows to any kind of reality-competition programs, nobody can’t say for sure that it is the audience to influence TV program or TV program to excite audience. 大學生了沒
台灣活耀的年輕族群就是大學生，每年也都有幾萬人紛紛進入大學生的行列中。大學生的生活方式儼然就是一種新的生活態度。大學生的想法也是最天馬行空的，11點線的”大學生了沒”主要是要邀請16位大學生們，想將節目當成一個繽紛的舞台，讓來至各種不同學校的大學生們有一個可以展現自我，讓他們盡情的發言，敢SHOW的地方。將時下年輕人的活力，不時的釋放能量，再藉由媒體電視的力量，傳播到每個大學生都散佈的到的角落。

The most dynamic group in Taiwan is college students. There are tens of thousands freshmen every year, and their unrestrained and vigorous styles are also the attitude toward life. The variety show 大學生了沒 (University) invites 16 students from various colleges to express their thoughts and show themselves. Via the influence of mass media, college students are able to disseminate their vitality and energy to everywhere.

Media workers tell a good story by a creative and touching way is a common phenomenon in Taiwan. These series of TV commercials used dynamic POV shots of Olympic Athletes to depict the tension of the game. Stylized visual stood out easily from groups of Olympic TV commercials at that time.

動輒數百元的外文設計雜誌常引人翻閱，但其偏高的單價與語言的隔閡卻往往讓人只好卻步。台灣設計業者改變了這個現象，讓平價的設計雜誌能放進每個人的書架，使美學與設計的養分進到每個人生活中的必經場所。幾年前，你可能從來沒想過能在便利商店裡「邂逅」一本平價的「設計」雜誌。但最初的構想，只是想做一本大家都能夠消化吸收的設計刊物。這時我們才了解，原來美學早該「平民」，而不是只有少數精英的喜好。

Higher price and language barrier become the excuse for not buying a foreign language design magazine, but Taiwan designers make an innovation. They make a design magazine affordable for everyone as well as the design aesthetic features more prevailing, even readers are able to grab a affordable magazine in convenient store. Taiwan POP music holds a key role in the global Mandarin-speaking market. POP music combines music creativity and poplar language, and it is a way of communication within Mandarin-speaking communities as well as the best communication tool in Taiwan POP culture.

臺灣科技大學工商設計系商業設計畢業；臺灣藝術大學應用媒體藝術研究所肄。在學時讀視覺設計，卻贏得誠品文案大賽，大二即成為誠品特約文案。大學畢業製作以一本圖文書出版，引起注目。從一個對生活切片極度敏感、不畏虎的初生之犢迄今，時屆八年，已為臺灣近年最重要的年輕設計師與多領域創作者之一。數年內屢獲「誠品好讀」年度出版報告–美術之最與最佳注目、金蝶獎最佳封面設計首獎及提名、2008國際設計年鑒「Musikraphics」新百張唱片設計暨設計師等，2009年獲選為臺灣文建會赴洛杉磯十八街藝術中心駐村藝術家。

BA in Commercial Design, NTUST, and studied in Graduate School of Applied Media Arts, NTUA. Majored in Graphic Design and the contributing copywriter of Eslite Bookstore after he won copywriting award of Eslite Bookstore in his sophomore year. He received exclusive public attention since his graduate works, the book “Somekidding in Reality,” was published. Same as others, once youthful and ensitive to the details of his life, eight years later, Nieh is now not only one of exceptional graphic designers but also a creator in different artistic fields. In recent years, he was awarded “Best Attention” and “Best Art Designer” several times in the annual report of Eslite readers. He also awarded “Best Cover Art Award” of Golden Butterfly Award and the “Best 100 Music Artworks and Designers” of International design book “Musikraghics” etc. He's also sponsored by Council for Culture Affairs, Taiwan as the artist in residence of the 18th Art Street Center of Los Angeles in 2009.

運用傳統文化元素為裝置意象，台灣的傢俱設計也有自己的美學風格。利用早期一般家庭所擁有的長凳、圓桌與鐵椅等傳統傢俱為素材，讓原本沉默無聲的物件轉變成充滿人味與回憶的懷舊新品。設計師要展現的巧思，除了是設計的概念，更是屬於生命過程裡的難忘記憶。

Applying traditional culture as the image of installation art work, furniture design and home deco in Taiwan have established their own aesthetic styles. Taiwan designers use common and traditional furniture such as benches, round stools or steel chairs as materials and inspirations, and make these ordinary items tinto retrospective and memorable furniture. They not only present the concept of art works but also the unforgettable moments of past life.

「咚咚鏹」是取廟會中引導舞龍舞獅的鼓與鈸兩種樂器所發出的音律，廟會活動代表著喜慶，長板凳則是廟會活動中常用的表演道具，也是生活中常見的傢俱。
最初想在原始的板凳中加入記憶，板凳本身就已有記憶，所以只能讓它加深記憶。說到板凳，直覺會想到廟口景象，老人泡茶、聊天、下棋、廟會、拜拜等等，與榕樹下大家坐在一起聊天景象很像。將長板凳與躺椅結合，但因結構關係而必須加上兩支椅腳，變成六腳板凳，越看這六角板凳就越像踩著板凳跳來跳去的舞獅，既然如此就乾脆給它披上一件獅子披風，就變成了這副有趣模樣。披著獅皮的板凳！因此這椅子有了自己的生命，且更親近了我的記憶。

The name ‘Dong-Dong-Chiang’ comes from the sound made by drams and cymbals to accompany traditional Taiwan dragon and lion dances performed at religious festivals. In performance like this, benches are frequently used as stage properties. They are also typical Chinese furniture commonly seen in many traditional homes.

Bench, reminds Chu of the scene of Taoism temples, the seniors gathering around the temple, having tea together, chatting, playing chess, and there are fairs sometimes.

It is not a sudden idea. The bench has its own memory, and Chu wants to strengthen the memory. Giving the bench a piece of back as a deck chair, which we usually have under a tree for taking rests, chatting or commerce with friends. During the design process, to support the structure, two extra legs come out. It bothered Chu a lot. Once when Chu turned over the bench, he found it looked like an animal, and associated it with lion dance. It is interesting and funny; therefore Chu gave it one more cloak with Taiwanese floral pattern. A bench with floral lion cloak…! The bench has its own life now, and it is closer to Chu’s memory too.

敘事空間 experiencing of space - 黃怡儒 I-JU HUANG

無視於舞台的各種限制，台灣設計師早已習慣化腐朽為神奇。利用各種素材的變化與創意輸出，讓原本看似沉默不語的空間也能發揮出最驚人的戲劇效果。沒有自視甚高的架子，透過商業的贊助與加持，不管在如夢似幻的舞台、疏離詩意的展覽或大型的時尚派對，設計師只希望讓台灣的各處場域變得更加迷人。

Taiwan designers are in a habit of utilizing their creativities and various materials, to turn an ordinary space into a dramatic stage beyond limitations. Without being arrogant, the duty as a designer is to create an attractive space wherever on stages, at exhibitions or parties.

By combining live plants with digital imaging technology, the director built spectacular terrain features of Scotland, the origin of whiskey. In order to introduce the unique taste of Johnnie Walker Green Label, Huang puts in use of particular techniques to reveal rich sources of history and culture of Johnnie Walker.

Branding Director, Gamania Brand Center

Eric studied Fine Arts and Packaging Design at FuHsin Trade & Arts School in Taipei, and graduated from Parsons School of Design in New York, where he studied Graphic Design & Advertising. Passionate about culture, art and design, he returned to Taiwan in 1998 and established ECD Design Studio. Since then, Eric has led his team to become one of the most recognized key players in the field of branding, whose design philosophy always emphasizes the exploration of culture and humanities. His ideas are often expressed and presented with a touch of humor. In 2003, Eric led his team joined Gamania Digital Entertainment Group and established the Gamania Brand Center. His core mission is to manage the brand's strategy and communications, create excellent brand culture and carry out creative research. To date, Eric's works have received awards from HKDA, LIAA, Taiwan National Design Gold Awards, China CIS Gold Awards, among others. In addition to working with Gamania, Eric also teaches Branding Design in the Design School of Shih Chien University, and runs the Designers Association of Taiwan.

臨時建築 Architecture in Cityscape - 龔書章

馳乘在台灣街道，往往會被車窗外那宛如藝術品的「接待中心/樣品屋」所吸引。但這其實台灣特有的房產行銷模式。儘管它們本身是一座座的「臨時建築」，但其細膩的美學表現卻往往超越周圍的住宅。透過這些短暫的美好，設計師擁有更多機會去思考關於建築結構的各種可能性。使它們不單單是「接待中心/樣品屋」，更是一件件向美好生活所提出的空間方案。　

Building the model houses (as reception center at the same time) in Taiwan is a special real estate marketing strategy. Although these model houses are temporary buildings, on the other hand, there are more opportunities given to designers for discovering more possibilities for construction of architecture. The model house is the exquisite aesthetic representation as well as the imagination for how lovely space could be.

龔書章，1986年畢業於台灣東海大學建築系，1992及1993年分別獲得美國哈佛大學建築研究所建築碩士以及設計碩士雙學位。目前於國立交通大學建築研究所擔任專任助理教授、也同時在淡江、實踐等大學建築系兼任授課。

龔書章不僅個人獲得2007年「第八屆中華民國傑出建築師獎」，而其創立的「原相建築」更於1997-2009年之間的作品更榮獲多項國際及台灣的建築或室內獎項─如「2007德國iF傳達設計大獎」、、「2008/ 2006/ 2004台灣建築獎」、「2008/ 2007TID台灣室內設計大獎評審特別獎」、「2006/2004日本商業設計協會JCD空間設計國際賞」、「2006中國深圳國際建築與室內設計獎」「2005優良綠建築獎」、「2003遠東建築獎」、「2003《室內設計與裝修》雜誌(大陸)優秀室內設計獎」、「2002國際燈光設計獎」、以及「1999《室內》雜誌商業作品金獎」等。在展覽上，龔書章更參加了2006「我們可以這樣生活」建築展、2004台北當代藝術館的「城市謠言─當代華人建築之紅樓夢」建築展、「2007第三屆中國（深圳）國際室內設計論壇」，以及「2008香港/深圳双城建築雙年展」。

Shu-Chang Kung graduated from Architecture Dept., Tunghai University, Taiwan in 1986, and received MArch(1992) and MDes(1993) from GSD, Harvard Univ., U.S.A. In 1997, Shu-Chang Kung established AURA Architects & Associates in Taipei, Taiwan. AURA is a design oriented firm which emphasizes the integration of professional practice and creative ideas in planing, architectural design and interior design. The works of AURA always challenge the double entity and dialogue between architecture and natural organism in different scales, materials or site situations. Recent works received many awards - Taiwan Architecture Award(2004/ 2006/ 2008), The Special Jury Award of TID(Taiwan Interior Design) Award (2007/2008), iF Communication Design Award- Too Good To Be True(2007), Honorable Mention of Far Eastern School Architectural Design Award(2001/2005), Silver and Bronze Medal of JCD Design Award, Japan(2004/ 2006), Second Prize of Far Eastern Architectural Design Award(2003), The Outstanding Interior Design Award of “ID+C” Magazine, China(2003), Award of Merit of International Illumination Design Award(2002).

水上的光影地景_親家建設接待中心,台中,台灣 Glassware on Water_Uptown Hospitality Center, Taichung, Taiwan

此作品企圖透過「牆、水、建築」來與外在環境界定出之間的喧鬧與寧靜，並且運用「水、玻璃、樹、紙管、焦煤炭」等可再利用的環保材料，作為整體地景與建築的概念和空間元素基調─由外到內、由實到虛、由硬到軟。環保可回收的材料（木炭、玻璃磚、與紙纖管）的空間表現，讓此建築在白天與夜晚之間呈現出不同的城市地景表情。然而在外部大量的玻璃磚所創造出的曲線量體之中，又藉以數千個具環保概念的紙纖管形成室內的曲形牆面與波狀天花，建立起空間的第三層元素，企圖藉以其數大純白的重複性和變異性所表現的張力與詩意，來與光透弧形玻璃磚牆面作豐富而多層次的光影對話，而形塑出一種戲劇化的視覺張力與獨特性美感。

“Glassware on Water” separates space by wall, water and architecture, ; this and utilizeswork utilizes recyclable materials such as water, glass, plants, paper tubes and coal to be the building concept and spacial elements. The spacial expressions of coal, glass block and paper tubes represent the different city landscape between day and night. Additionally, thousands of paper tubes form the wall and ceiling, and portray a dramatic and unique visualization.

Having successfully created countless well-known brands in Taiwan, Eric, Ping-Liang Chen’s design works have received high recognition from national and international awards.
